"Vacationers can get deep into the northwoods without roughing it at this first-class, century-old retreat west of Ely"
Midwest Living Magazine
Welcome to Burntside Lodge, the oldest remaining guest lodge in the Ely, Minnesota area. Nestled among the pines on the southern shore of Burntside Lake, Burntside is a summer resort which has been welcoming guests since 1913 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Early information shares stories of guests enjoying hospitable lodging in accommodations at what would become Burntside Lodge as early as 1911...over ninety-five years ago.
Ray and Nancy LaMontagne purchased Burntside Lodge in 1941 and today, over 70 years later it is still operated by Ray and Nancy’s son Lou, his wife Lonnie and their adult children Nicole and Jacques.
Today the LaMontagne family continues to welcome guests to this northwoods retreat.
Fine dining, comfortable but casually elegant, original log cabins, and a pristine island-dotted lake combine to give you a treasured vacation experience at one of the few surviving authentic log resorts on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
We are excited to open for the 2013 season! This summer marks the lodge's 100th anniversary and 72 years of ownership and management by the LaMontagne family. We can't wait to welcome all of our new and returning guests to celebrate this milestone and the tradition of a vacation at Burntside!
Our cabins will begin opening in May and the restaurant will begin service for the season on May 23rd.
We look forward to seeing you!
